GIFT: Custom-etched Wine Bottles

Here's a new place to put your corporate logo: etched into wine bottles that make unique gifts. For a one-time set-up fee and a per-bottle charge, you can have your corporate logo carved with lasers into the glass of bottles of wine from virtually any vineyard in the world. But there is a caveat: While some companies that specialize in custom-etching are licensed to ship to any state, rigid local laws restrict how wineries can ship their products. Wine Design can create etched and colored bottles of California wine (like the one they did for us, left), and ship them anywhere in the country in customized wooden boxes or in velvet gift bags. Private Label Vintage Group's Thoroughbred Vintners and Napa Valley's Wines by Design can custom etch bottles from vineyards around the world and ship them anywhere in the U.S. Several other wineries--including Goosecross Cellars--also provide the service, but their shipping regulations can get a little tricky. --Samantha Melamed
