Oh, the irony of being a celebrity: When you have the money to buy anything you want, you don't have to pay for it. Celebs in town for the television networks' Upfront Week presentations got to enjoy the bounty of their fame at the Lucky/Cargo Club, a hospitality suite filled with swag and presented by Conde Nast's his-and-hers shopping magazines at Le Parker Meridien. (Such mini marketing bazaars—once tied only to big awards shows—are now popping up anywhere celebs congregate.)
Celebrity guests were invited for Hypnotiq cocktails, light snacks such as fruit and cookies, beauty and grooming services like manicures and hair styling, and all the free stuff they could stuff into their canvas gift bags. Sponsors CK Jeans, Solstice, C. Ronson, Sigerson Morrison and Mario Badescu offered products ranging from clothing and lingerie to beauty products and designer sunglasses. Musters & Company produced the event with the magazines' director of public relations, Mistrella Murphy, and designed decor in warm colors like orange, fuchsia and red. Furniture included furry chairs and ottomans as well as fabric-covered benches dotted with Lucky- and Cargo-branded throw pillows. Gerbera daisies in vases lined with magazine covers provided more color and easy branding.
