William Morris Hosts Post-Show House Party

While the media weren\'t invited into a private Bel Air residence, guests were free to roam the 10,000-square foot estate.

February 12, 2007
Nightlife impresario and event producer Brent Bolthouse of Brent Bolthouse Productions/SBE was adamant about the venue for the William Morris Agency’s post-Grammys bash. It had to be a private residence. “The uniqueness of this party is that it’s held in a house,” Bolthouse said. “That’s what sets it apart from the other Grammy parties around town.”Hired by William Morris director of corporate communications Christian Muirhead to oversee the party for the second consecutive year, Bolthouse scouted 20 locations before settling on a midcentury modern Bel Air home, choosing it for its open rooms, space to accommodate the party’s 1,500 guests, and distance from neighboring homes. “The challenge came in not impacting the neighborhood too much,” said Bolthouse, who tapped into nearby UCLA’s parking structure to avoid inconveniencing local residents. Guests parked in the university’s lot and headed to the party in luxury mini-coaches. (V.I.P.s rode in private cars and chauffeur services provided by Beverly Hills Mercedes-Benz.)

A William Morris gobo decorated the driveway that guests had to descend by foot to reach the 10,000-square-foot home. Inside, rented bright orange Ultrasuede couches and white leather seats were in sync with the home’s modern architectural style. Amber lighting accented the towering green plants—part of the home’s every-day decor—scattered throughout the residence. A tented outdoor tennis court stocked with similar white leather seating and greenery served as a continuation of the indoor decor, while the earthy brown tone of the tent’s carpeting echoed the organic feel of the venue’s plants, as well as the home’s exposed wood beams.
