Versace’s famous Medusa logo was in the
spotlight at Capitol File magazine’s
preview of the label’s 2007 spring/summer collection, held at the Italian
embassy on March 22. A long black banner emblazoned with the logo hung from the
balcony of the venue’s Piazza Italia, an airy atrium decorated crisply in black
and white and accented with four flat-screen TVs playing footage of Versace
fashion shows. The logo also appeared on elevated plastic platforms, which
models posed on after walking the black runway, allowing the fashion-heavy
crowd to see the clothes up close. “With Versace, it’s all about the quality and construction,” said Jayne Sandman, Capitol File’s associate publisher, who worked with Versace’s director of marketing and events, Stacie Henderson, and visual director Stefano Corradi to produce the event. “This way, you can stand right next to that white dress and see how amazing it is.”
Each of the 300 guests took that Versace logo home, thanks to a gift bag stuffed with a pink Versace Rosenthal glass coaster, the latest issue of Capitol File, and a $150 gift certificate to the Versace boutique at Tysons Galleria in Virginia.
