After undergoing a major renovation, the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) reopened in September with a huge conference room, 10 smaller meeting rooms, a cafe, and a garden area. All the rooms have audiovisual capabilities. The conference room and several of the meeting rooms offer ravine views and connect to the outdoor gardens. The conference room can be divided into two or four sections. Various accommodations have been incorporated for the benefit of the vision and hearing impaired. All told, the space has a standing capacity of 1,860 and a seating capacity of 676. Compass Group Canada's Impressions Catering provides in-house catering—and seven additional caterers have preferred caterer status. The weekday rental rate is $1,250. Evening and weekend rates range from $2,000 to $3,000. Rental fees include use of tables and chairs, LCD projectors and screens, and microphone equipment. A portion of all rental proceeds are used to support CNIB programs. —Robyn Small
