Boston Lyric Opera's 2014 Opera Gala

The Boston Lyric Opera opened its 2014-15 season with the Opera Gala on October 10. During dinner, entertainers performed on a small, round stage set atop the larger stage. The performance included operatic songs and an act from aerialist Rachel Lancaster.

The third annual Puma Open in Miami in 2009 included what was known as the Golf Pong hole. The activity was akin to the drinking game beer pong, and players chipped golf balls into six large red barrels.

Earl's Kitchen & Bar's Bee's Knees

Earl's Kitchen & Bar is a Vancouver-based chain that's opening Chicago and Virginia outposts this fall. The venue's cocktail selection includes the cutely packaged Bee's Knees, served in a honey-bear-like glass and made with gin, Cointreau, honey, fresh lemon, and bitters.

Variety and British Airways hosted a Los Angeles event in 2013—at a $30 million private manse—meant to celebrate the publication's “10 Brits to Watch” feature as well as the airline's nonstop service between Los Angeles International Airport and Heathrow Airport on the A380. In the photo op area, guests could highlight the destinations they most wanted to visit by pinning their image to a map board.
