For a corporate event at the Temple House, the projection changed for each course of the meal, cycling through cities in Asia, Europe, South America, and the United States where the company had offices. For the Istanbul, Turkey-theme course, projections showed the Basilica Cistern. Cuisine from the region was served, and servers dressed in on-theme costumes. Music was also paired with the various projections and courses.

Rethink Flooring

Symantec reduced the amount of carpet used at Vision Barcelona by 52 percent by covering the trade show floor with reusable, rented carpet tiles; traditional carpeting was only used in the walk ways of the plenary room.

Santa Monica-based venture capital firm Upfront Ventures hosted its annual Upfront Summit tech conference earlier this month in Los Angeles. Meant in part to underscore the power of the local tech community and the importance of the firm’s location and proximity to the creative and entertainment realms, the event had a distinctly Los Angeles feel. As part of that approach, the lunch included a farmer’s market-style experience, with food trucks, picnic tables, and drinks served on a rustic cart.

Biblio Bash

The Toronto Public Library Foundation hosted its annual black tie fund-raiser in April at the Toronto Reference Library. Each table at the dinner portion of the event, which raised more than $692,000 for the library’s youth empowerment programs and services, featured a Canadian author host. The list of the 43 authors and their notable books were featured on circular placemats in text printed in concentric circles. Candice & Alison designed the event.

Bombay Sapphire’s Artisan Series

Bombay Sapphire’s Artisan Series rang in its ninth year at Villa Casa Casuarina, formerly known as the Versace Mansion on December 6. Actress Tessa Thompson announced Montreal artist Erik Nieminen as the grand finale winner of the brand's artist competition. Nieminen will collaborate with global art platform Artsy on a public art installation in New York.
