
The sixth annual Content Marketing World took place September 6 to 9 at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland. Foregoing a traditional panel format, organizers created a replica of the set from the game show Hollywood Squares to house two sessions: one featuring nine of the conference’s keynote speakers and another with instructors from the Content Marketing University as game participants. Tim Washer, creative director for Cisco and a comedy writer, served as host, asking participants questions related to content marketing.

The 41st annual Wolf Trap Ball took place September 16 at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia. Yellowstone National Park inspired the main dinner course of grilled bison, herbed risotto, and heirloom cauliflower garnished with spinach puree and elderberry sorghum syrup.

Design Cuisine set up a "make your own s'mores" bar after dinner, complete with hot coals for roasting marshmallows.

On September 7, politicians, philanthropists, and business executives gathered at Cipriani on Wall Street in New York to honor the fallen and raise money to support the memorial and museum. The dining tablescape featured a mesmerizing hologram prism, which displayed the Survivor Tree through the four seasons (the charred trunk of a Callery pear tree, which became known as the “Survivor Tree,” was pulled from the rubble of the World Trade Center site after the attacks and remains alive on the grounds today). The centerpiece was created by Gramercy Tech. 360 Design Events handled the styling, decor, and video art direction for the event.

BuzzFeed hosted its pre-Emmy party to give out its "Buzzies" entertainment awards on September 14 at Hyde in Los Angeles. Produced by Pen & Public, the event had a BuzzFeed-theme three-dimensional step-and-repeat wall that popped in black, yellow, and red.

The Television Academy of Arts & Science hosted two Creative Arts Balls on September 10 and 11 and the Governors Ball on September 18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Produced by Cheryl Cecchetto of Sequoia Productions, the event had a "Nature's Elegance" theme that featured a rustic, organic vibe that showcased more than 50,000 hydrangeas, 80,000 roses, and 20,000 succulents.

Entertainment Weekly hosted its annual pre-Emmy party on September 16 at Nightingale Plaza in Los Angeles. Event Eleven produced the event, which included a slow-motion video booth with vintage television sets as a backdrop.

Charlotte Tilbury's Scent of a Dream fragrance launch party took place September 10 at Samsung 837 in New York. The event featured a virtual-reality short film starring fragrance spokesmodel Kate Moss, with VR stations placed throughout the venue. HL Group, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, and Samsung produced the event.

Catering from the venue's hospitality staff included cookies in the form of lipstick tubes that were wrapped in pink bows.

Cottonelle hosted a beauty lounge for celebrities, media, and influencers during New York Fashion Week on September 8 and 9 at Openhouse in SoHo. The event had a branded wall created with rolls of toilet paper, which was designed by BMF Media Group.


Janina O’Leary, executive pastry chef at LaV Restaurant & Wine Bar in Austin, Texas, created a "Wonderland" theme dessert table for Austin Food & Wine Festival's "Sips and Sweets" event in April. Hanging over the sweets table was a marshmallow chandelier that held forks holding marshmallows. Staffers cut down individual marshmallows for guests, who put them into chocolate teacups filled with homemade rhubarb jam.






































The 30th annual Beverly Hills Holiday Lighting Celebration took place November 20 on Rodeo Drive. Produced and designed by AGENC, the celebration featured interactive elements including a life-size plexi snow globe gift box. Passersby were encouraged to take a photo in the box and post to Instagram with the hashtag #onlyonrodeo. Decorations will be on display through January 3, 2017.

The celebration, which had a "Wrapped in Couture" theme, featured a performance by Broadway star Megan Hilty who performed on a stage that showcased giant jingle balls in white and shades of gold. The stage incorporated the event's new #RodeoGivesBack campaign, which encouraged guests to bring a coat to donate to the Salvation Army and Maple Counseling Center in Beverly Hills.

The post-ceremony reception for the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C., took place December 1 at Presidents Park. The reception, which was produced by RGI Events and catered by Heirloom Catering, featured a festive bar with hot cocoa and doughnuts.

The reception also featured a "Farmer's Display," which included a variety of charcuterie and cheeses, seasonal vegetables, and fruit, along with decor that had holly in hanging glass jars.

Swiss chocolate brand Cailler opened a holiday pop-up retail shop in New York's meatpacking district from November 19 to 26. The pop-up showcased a window design from Simon Doonan, who commented in a press release: "For me, the inspiration was easy. It's all about Alpine chic."

Bloomingdale's in New York unveiled its holiday window displays on November 21. Inspired by its holiday campaign theme "light," the brand invited visual artists to create chandeliers based on their artistic expression of the word. Window chandeliers included Allison Eden's "Sparkle," which was inspired by the ocean.

Smash Entertainment created a custom LED hoop show for the event.

Fourteen Great Wolf Lodge locations debuted dine-in gingerbread houses made with 600 pounds of dough, 5,000 candies, and 1,320 pounds of sugar. The houses were constructed by each resort's employee team.

For the holiday season, Conrad Miami Hotel offers a Jack Frost Happy Hour that features a snowfall from a snow machine provided by Stage Equipment and Lighting.

Hallmark hosted a mobile pop-up at various locations in Toronto from November 25 to 27. Passersby were invited to step inside a branded truck to write messages on a free Hallmark card of their choice, and enjoy beverages in branded cups.

Passersby could mail friends or family members cards in a branded mailbox.

Mixology and hospitality company Drink Company president Derek Brown and C.E.O. Angie Fetherston turned three bars on Washington's Seventh Street—Eat the Rich, Southern Efficiency, and Mockingbird Hill—into pop culture-theme winter wonderlands for the holiday season. Eat the Rich features a tribute to the Netflix series Stranger Things with faded wallpaper, graffiti of the alphabet, and retro Christmas lights.

Mockingbird Hill offers a tribute to Iceland with decorative narwhals with Santa hats and a ceiling cloud installation.

Mockingbird Hill also has a "Hanukkah Hangout" section that showcases a glass mosaic menorah.

Hudson's Bay in Toronto unveiled its holiday window display on November 3 with an event that included a performance by Mariah Carey. The theme of the window display is "Enchanted Forest," offering holiday-inspired scenes showcasing hand-sculpted animals including skiing mice and a bear buried in snow.

Staff at the Hilton Chicago created a gingerbread hotel that stands more than six feet tall. The life-size hotel was created with 16,000 gingerbread "bricks" and took more than 250 hours to create.

The Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Arizona, features a 24-foot-tall Christmas tree created with more than 300 living golden barrel cacti, inspired by the resort's Sonoran Desert setting. Each cacti will be planted in the resort's landscape at the end of the holiday season.
