Want to motivate a team or go for a little group bonding time? Here's a look at 10 mostly new spots in Los Angeles for group activities, staff parties, and teambuilding outings.

1. Blushington

Blushington opened in the fall in West Hollywood and is a fun pick for a female-centric pampering event. The makeup-only salon has a smart, girlie peach-and-white look. Buyout of one room is available for eight people for $350. Two rooms hold 16 for $700, or the entire venue accommodates 28 people for $1,500 per hour, including full makeup application for all guests. The whole space holds about 75 in all for a reception.

2. Thai Thai Spa at Palihotel

The new, 32-room Palihotel opened in February, and it comes with a cool pampering space right for groups. The Thai Thai spa is available for buyout and offers Thai massage on six beds. There's also a blow-dry bar with two chairs, which can become part of the event.

3. Spot 5750

Formerly a club and now open exclusively for private events, Spot 5750 in Hollywood is a pool hall and sports bar that sprawls out over 25,000 square feet. For groups, there's the Crown Room, which holds 65 for a reception with three pool tables and five 50-inch plasma TVs. The Director's Lounge has an option of two pool tables, three 42-inch plasma TVs, and a capacity of about 40. A private dining room holds 20 for a seated event and has privacy curtains and four plasma TVs. The lounge patio can be broken into two sections, one for about 75 for a reception with a 61-inch projection screen, and another for about 25 for a seated event.

4. Hotel Hanford Wine Salon

Take a group from a boardroom to a more relaxed setting at the new Hotel Hanford, which offers a wine salon set with a table for 10 guests. The hotel can arrange tasting events and educational sessions focused on wine, and can customize the experience to the group's tastes and budget. The salon's bottles are on view behind glass.

5. Rossano Ferretti Hairspa

For pampering events, Rossano Ferretti Hairspa in Beverly Hills covers 5,000 square feet on two levels. The upper level, known as the Prive, is for clients who want a more intimate, private feel. There are three rooms, in addition to a large lounge space, making it right for private parities. The salon's decor includes black velvet curtains that serve as a dramatic entrance and provide privacy. The center of the venue houses a long black lacquered community table, good for meals or snacks. The salon itself is equipped with a stereo system and—a rarity among salons in town—a 12-space private parking lot.

6. Top of L.A.

New Movement Films has acquired a new penthouse in the Sunset Vine Tower, with the only north-facing balcony for sweeping, panoramic city views. The 1,800-square-foot space, known as Top of L.A., is available for events of about 100, and there's a pool table for casual competition or a meeting-break activity.

7. Nine Zero One Salon

The Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood offers a unique service: At its braid bar, guests can select from a variety of braid styles for primping events in an airy atmosphere. The salon accommodates groups of about 50.

8. Calamigos Ranch

In the Santa Monica Mountains of Malibu is the 60-year-old Calamigos Ranch, which has several new offerings among its teambuilding activities. “Cake Wars” challenges teams to come up with a design and concept and then, using the provided baking necessities, plates of sheet cake, frosting, and decorating kits, work together to execute their projects. Afterward, all participants are invited to a dessert party with each of the cakes and a champagne toast. The activity can be done completely outdoors, weather permitting, on Calamigos' sprawling grounds.

9. Limoneira Ranch

More than 118 years old, Limoneira Ranch is one of the largest lemon and avocado producers in the U.S. More recently, it has become available for events and meetings for groups of 20 to 3,000, and it features a variety of prime views and settings. The Limoneira Ranch regulation bocce ball courts are a hit as an activity to keep the energy up during meeting breaks.

10. Lucky Strike

Lucky Strike at L.A. Live has 18 lanes, billiards tables, plasma TVs, and a bar. Luxe Lounge, a private room within the venue, contains four bowling lanes, two billiards tables, and its own bar, with a capacity of 110. The Luxe Lounge also has a high-definition projection screen. For Hollywood events, there's also a Hollywood & Highland Center location.
