Attendance at the event grew to 13,000 in 2016, hosting more than 200 authors from 16 countries at Harbourfront Centre. This year’s focus will be on Canadian authors and their works. Next: October 19-29, 2017

The public policy debates—featuring the likes of Newt Gingrich and Fareed Zakaria—continue to sell out Roy Thomson Hall twice a year. For the spring 2017 event, a partnership with Facebook was forged to help increase awareness and gain a larger online viewing audience. Next: November 2017

More than 600 journalists and media executives returned to the Fairmont Royal York for the sold-out 2017 soiree, where the Canadian Press took the top award. CN was the presenting sponsor, and BMO Financial and Labbatt Breweries of Canada also supported the event. Next: June 2018

#6 Media & Literary Event (up from #7)
Two poets, one Canadian and one international, were each awarded $65,000 and feted by 325 of their peers at the Distillery District’s Fermenting Cellar this June. The theme this year was the tropics, with lots of foliage, a midnight balloon drop, and dancing. Next: June 2018

#7 Media & Literary Event
A smaller crowd of about 300 attended the event’s 40th anniversary celebrations this year, again held at the Arcadian Court and catered by Oliver and Bonacini. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Toronto Mayor John Tory were on hand as Cottage Life was named magazine of the year. Next: June 2018
