More than 65,000 visitors in 2018 attended the Armory Show, a four-day fair and cultural event centered around the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century art. Held at Piers 92 and 94, the show included presentations by international galleries, innovative commissioned work, and engaging programs open to the public. Now in its 25th year, the 2019 show is set to feature representatives from 194 galleries across 33 countries. Next: March 7-10, 2019

#2 Art, Design & Architecture Event
Some 50,000 consumers and interior design professionals descend upon Piers 92 and 94 for the annual Architectural Digest Design Show, a four-day showcase of new collections from more than 400 brands. The show also includes seminars from top industry insiders, culinary demonstrations, product launches, installations, and the Diffa’s Dining by Design fund-raiser. Details of this year’s event are still under wraps, but the Shops and Made sections promise to be bigger than ever. Next: March 21-24, 2019

#3 Art, Design & Architecture Event
More than 900 exhibitors are expected to participate in the 31st edition of ICFF, an international gathering of 38,000 interior design professionals. The event includes a curated selection of furniture, art, lighting, flooring, and other design elements from more than 30 countries. Next: May 19-22, 2019

#4 Art, Design & Architecture Event (up from #5)
In 2018, a record 44,000 guests attended Frieze New York at Randall’s Island Park. The three-day event highlights the work of both established and emerging artists, offering galleries a chance to connect with curators, collectors, museum representatives, and art enthusiasts from all over the world. Last year’s sponsors included Deutsche Bank, BMW, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Next: May 2-5, 2019

#5 Art, Design & Architecture Event
Held at the Cooper Hewitt Museum’s Arthur Ross Terrace and Garden, the National Design Awards Gala shines a spotlight on leaders and innovators in all aspects of design. Sponsors for the 2018 event, which featured decor inspired by the museum’s “Tablescapes: Designs for Dining” exhibit, included Target, Design Within Reach, Facebook, and Bloomberg Philanthropies. In honor of the 20th anniversary, this year’s gala will include a new Emerging Design Award to celebrate the next generation of designers. Next: Fall 2019

#6 Art, Design & Architecture Event
For two days in October, Open House New York Weekend invites visitors to celebrate architecture and urban design across the five boroughs. More than 250 buildings and projects open their doors to the public, hosting tours and discussions with architects, historians, preservationists, and city leaders. Now in its 17th year, the event draws 80,000 attendees. Next: October 19-20, 2019
