Movie-Themed Creative Teambuilding Idea for Groups

The one-of-a-kind creative teambuilding activity in the Atlanta suburbs proved to us that watching, and then dissecting, our favorite movies can be fodder for building deep, meaningful camaraderie. There’s nothing unusual about getting cozy on overstuffed chairs and watching clips of “Working Girl,” “The Sandlot” and “What’s Love Got to Do With It” with your staff, board or boss—at least not at Reel Experience. The Connect Association magazine team tried it firsthand.

Once inside Reel’s colorful and quirky offices, each person on our team received individual packets and props incorporating their movie choices. (The Reel staff does a ton of prework before you arrive.) Our team was then broken into smaller groups, separated and led by a Reel team member through various movie-inspired exercises. Even better? The popcorn machine, snacks and endless bottles of movie theater candy kept us acting like giddy school children.

While we can’t reveal all the epiphanies had over the four-hour day (includes a 45-minute lunch break), we can tell you the incredibly moving experience and creative teambuilding activity reveals the character of your staff, what drives them, what role they play in the team and how everyone can play to each other’s strengths.

How’s that for keeping it reel?
