New York Selected to Host Latin Emmys

Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Monday that the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will present its Leaders of Spanish Language Television awards, aka the Latin Emmys, at the Time Life building on October 19. The awards will honor six Spanish TV stars in news, talk shows, sports, and novelas. AT&T, Moët Hennessy, and People En Español are award sponsors. While the event isn't expected to have much of an economic impact—the two-year-old event will only have 300 guests—academy president Peter Price pointed out at the press conference that New York is home to one of the largest Spanish-language television audiences in the United States. (A much bigger event, the Latin Grammys, will come to New York for the first time on November 2.)
