Children Uniting Nations and Billboard Oscar Party Lands at the Beverly Hilton

A huge dance floor and a somersaulting guitarist on a trampoline were among the lures to Billboard magazine and Children Uniting Nations' ninth annual Oscar viewing dinner and after-party at the Beverly Hilton hotel on Sunday night. The music industry's Oscar bash found a home in one of L.A.'s largest hotel ballrooms after years on the move, and the new digs drew an array of royalty—from Ghana's King Adamte to Miss U.S.A. Rachel Smith—as well as honorees including Ice-T and his amply curvy wife, Coco. Arriving guests were greeted by models garbed in petticoats, top hats emblazoned with the charity's name, and T-shirts custom-made for the event by Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier.

While some guests cruised the silent-auction tables, big donors and celebrities sipped and snacked in a side room decked with a vanity, velvet-covered lounges, and other boudoir-worthy furnishings. The crowd dined on halibut and steak at tables decorated with topiary-like zinnia balls in white, fuschia, and bubble-gum pink.After the award show, which was broadcast on big screens flanking the stage, the after-party hosted by Doug E. Fresh kicked off with a stream of performers, including acrobats from the Cirque du Soleil-like group Line 1 (of which the trampoline-aided somersaulting guitarist was a member) and Jil Aigrot, who sang the role of Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose, which earned Marion Cotillard the Best Actress Oscar. Guests danced until the bar shut down at 2 a.m. Scherr Lillico of the Proper Image Events produced, and Guttman Associates handled PR.
