Emmys Moving From Shrine to Nokia

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is taking its annual Emmy awards from the Shrine Auditorium to the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The arrangement is part of a 10-year deal with L.A. Live developer AEG that also includes the Primetime Emmy and Creative Arts shows. The Emmys have been at the Shrine for a decade, following a move from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

Academy chairman and C.E.O. John Shaffner said that the move has been in the pipeline for years, and said it will afford more space for related events like the Governors Ball, plus room for 6,500 attendees at the show itself.
