The big Golden Globes weekend is about to get under way, with the annual dinner show on Sunday at the Beverly Hilton. Here's a snapshot of some of the weekend's major festivities from the likes of HBO, Fox, NBC Universal, In Style, and Warner Brothers.
Starting with the big night in the center of it all: Five big-time hosts are slated to take over the Beverly Hilton with after-parties, down from six in recent past years; AMC is a no-show. But In Style and Warner Brothers will be back, with their annual to-do at the Hilton's Oasis Courtyard. Thomas Ford of Tom Ford Designs will design that party, drawing inspiration from water and fluidity with a color palette of teal, navy, silver, and coral. Godiva will set up its annual chocolate lounge there, with imaginative production by Abel McCallister Designs.
HBO's party will take over the Hilton's Circa 55 restaurant and adjoining pool area with design by longtime collaborator Billy Butchkavitz, who found his inspiration this year in early '90s collections of Issey Miyake. NBC Universal has chosen the parking structure's rooftop for a dinner and after-party. Production and design will be by Angel City Designs, with deco-style, mirrored-tile LED chandeliers filling the tent ceiling. Chrysler/Fiat and Hilton Hotels are sponsors. Alison Bossert will oversee Sony's party at the Stardust Rooftop. And the Weinstein Company will take to the former Bar210 space, with production by Best Events.
Just across the way, Fox is back with its Globes-night after-party for the second year at the former Robinsons-May building, a glittering tented affair for all Fox divisions.
Over the weekend, the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills will be buzzing with an array of suites, including In Style's annual presence with production by Caravents and HBO's Luxury Lounge, where Alison Kennedy PR hired Joe Moller Events to produce the L'Oreal beauty suite. GBK and Wella are also among the weekend's suite hosts.
And on Saturday, Bafta will host its award season tea party also at the Four Seasons, not officially specific to the Globes, but one more reason that hotel will be crawling with boldface names over the big weekend.
