There may not have been a defining controversial moment at this year's MTV Video Music Awards at the Nokia Theatre on Sunday night. But that didn't stop the two-hour show from garnering record ratings: The annual event drew the biggest viewership for any telecast on MTV since 2002.
Swirling around the activities were the requisite set of related events and suites. The mix this year included pre-awards events like Def Jam Rapstar and Kodak EasyShare's party, a two-day event known as Music Box Powered by Ustream atop the London, and an after-party at Bar Marmont from In Touch Weekly. Here's a look inside.
