This week's roundup includes a movie screening on a hot-air balloon in Los Angeles; Amazon’s holiday fiesta in Miami; Pantone’s immersive Color of the Year announcement in New York; and a multicultural storytelling conference in Hollywood.

On December 4 at Artechouse in New York, Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2020: Pantone 19-4052, Classic Blue. It’s meant to symbolize protection, stability, peace, and confidence, as well as encourage deep thinking, open mindfulness, and communication.

For the first time, Pantone debuted a multi-sensory approach for the Color of the Year to help bring Classic Blue to life. Pantone partnered with Audio UX to create a corresponding sound called “Vivid Nostalgia”; Firmenich created the “taste” (a fruity sweet berry with floral notes) and “smell” of Classic Blue; the Inside developed a custom velvety fabric that embodies the spirit of the color, which was featured on cushions scattered throughout the space; and Tealeaves created the official bespoke tea blend, a berry mélange with subtle citrus notes.

Fiestas Amazon Event
On November 20, Amazon celebrated the upcoming holiday season with the first Fiestas Amazon event in Miami. Held at the Oasis at the Magic City Innovation District, the event, which was produced by H&M Communications, featured gifting displays highlighting Amazon products and services. Social hashtags such as #EntregandoSonrisas (meaning Delivering Smiles) served as decor.

Amazon Prime Video's “The Aeronauts' Incredible Journey”
Amazon Prime Video is hosting a high-flying nationwide tour to promote The Aeronauts, an upcoming feature film that follows an 1862 gas balloon that broke the world flight altitude record. The drama, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, will be released on the streaming service December 20. The weekend-long Los Angeles edition of the sprawling Victorian fair set, which took place at Rose Bowl Stadium, featured hot-air balloon rides, as well as more than 50 costumed performers including a tightrope walker, a juggler, and an aerial acrobat dangling from a tether line. Amazon Prime Video's “The Aeronauts' Incredible Journey”
The event also included a screening of the film, projected on the side of a hot air balloon in what organizers call "the world's first Fly-In Theater." A flexible LED screen with more than 76,000 pixels wrapped 360 degrees around the balloon, allowing the screen to be viewed from all directions even in daylight conditions. Viewers used silent disco-style headphones for audio. The tour will make stops in Atlanta, Orlando, and Austin this month before returning to Los Angeles in late December. To celebrate the end of its Higher Education Challenge, as well as its 21st anniversary, Barry's Bootcamp hosted its Higher Education Graduation Party on November 16 at SIR Stage37 in New York. Called the University of Barry’s, the event, which was designed and produced by Shiraz Creative, featured a campus-style setting with a “quad” space that served as the dance floor and viewing space for the live performances. From November 15 to 17, HBO took over Casita Hollywood in Los Angeles for a pop-up experience in support of its new "Our Stories to Tell" campaign, which celebrates multicultural audiences and storytelling. The gathering was part conference, part marketplace, part celebration, with the HBO team working with Crown & Conquer to transform the venue 10 times in three days.
