Warner Bros. Tune Squad Court

Warner Bros. unveiled a refurbished basketball court inspired by Looney Tunes characters in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on August 1. The company partnered with creative agency Movement Strategy and street artist Evan Rossell to create the mural and host a celebratory event that included a mini basketball game and halftime show.

Eatertainment’s Beats & Eats Bash

Toronto-based event management and catering company Eatertainment held a Mykonos-theme party at its headquarters on July 31. The event featured a postcard station prop branded with the company logo. Additional decor included beach balls in the colors of the Greek flag.

Fila Explore Pop-Ups

Fila, with experiential agency MKG, launched retail pop-ups in 11 cities around the world to promote the new Explore collection. The pop-ups are highlighted by four experiences that evoke outdoor environments. In New York, the Canyon installation invites guests to pose on a Fila marker, surrounded by a geometric structure illuminated in blue and pink hues. Fila Explore Pop-Ups

Fila’s lookbook provided inspiration for a psychedelic photo moment in the Elements vignette. “We wanted to take lookbook imagery and mess with that in a way that feels like the imagery itself has melted and become part of the store,” said Johan Gerdin, associate creative director of MKG. Comic-Con 2019

The 50th anniversary of Comic-Con International took place July 18 to 21 in San Diego. Amazon Prime Video worked with Tool of North America to create a 60,000-square-foot activation across from the San Diego Convention Center. The public experience was highlighted by a 40-foot tower adorned with massive LED screens that played scenes from Amazon Prime shows The Boys, Carnival Row, and The Expanse. There were also live performances inspired by each show that took place on the tower, such as an immigration storyline inspired by Carnival Row. For the new Audible original series Stan Lee's Alliances: A Trick of Light, Audible worked with producers Civic Entertainment Group to bring a matrix-like "light labyrinth" to Comic-Con. A variety of immersive light and sound-driven experiences represented key moments from the new series, which features a universe of new superheroes. Fox hosted its inaugural Fan Fair at this year’s Comic-Con, spanning 24,000 square feet with production by Creative Riff. Located across from the New Children’s Museum was a carnival-inspired space highlighting the network’s Animation Domination, a Sunday-night block of animated shows including The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and Family Guy. HBO Stay Home to the Movies

HBO held the second edition of its Stay Home to the Movies event July 26 to 28 at Domino Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The network, with experiential agency Giant Spoon, created a 7,250-square-foot pop-up neighborhood that consisted of four tiny houses and a communal backyard. The third annual Slow Foods Nation took place July 19 to 21 in Denver’s Larimer Square. Chefs worked together to craft inventive, recycled dishes for the Zero Waste Community Supper, which closed out the festival.
