Kyocera and Sprint teamed with Las Vegas-based event firm Fresh Wata to produce the February 7 unveiling of their new, dual-screen Android smartphone, the Echo, for media types at Edison Ballroom. DJ Casey Connor provided music in a booth made of multiple 32-, 46- and 55-inch plasma monitors in ornamental gold frames, which displayed both Sprint and Kyocera branding for the joint event. The monitors worked in unison, much the same way the phone’s two screens do. Also adorning the booth were mirrors applied with vinyl statics that read “Two Is Better than One” and “See Double.”

Attendees mingled on the Edison Ballroom’s two floors and sipped drinks prepared by flair bartender Duo at highboy tables branded “Soulmates.” Providing entertainment was magician David Blaine, who performed all his tricks while underwater. The C.E.O.s of Kyocera and Sprint addressed the crowd together in front of a giant model of the new device, which doubled as a monitor for the presentation.
