In a statement about his first-time hosting duties, the comedian played it safe, saying, “We love television and look forward to working with the Television Academy and ABC in creating a show that is fast-paced, humorous, unpredictable, and at times irreverent, but clearly celebratory of our incredible industry.” L.A. Times: http://lat.ms/GUjE7U
2. EXHIBITING GROWTH: Yesterday, the Center for Exhibition Industry Research released its report on the sector’s growth in 2011 and predictions for the coming year. The outlook was positive, with results pointing to increases in revenue, attendees, and exhibitors. http://bit.ly/10FMXF

5. “MILLER TIME” REVIVAL: In an effort to boost sales of Miller Lite, MillerCoors is bringing back the tagline, “It’s Miller time.” The company will increase the marketing budget for the underperforming beer by 50 percent to support a campaign that includes TV spots, major team sponsorships, retail programming, and digital ads.
6. SEARCH STRATEGY: What the recent high-profile firings at Bing mean for the Microsoft search engine’s marketing strategy: http://bit.ly/GRbkam
7. MADONNA’S BRIEF TWEETS: As part of a promotion for her new album, MDNA, the Material Girl joined Twitter for one day, taking to the social media platform on Monday night to answer questions from fans. The @MadonnaMDNAday account managed to attract more than 40,000 followers after sending out its first tweet on Sunday. http://on.mash.to/GRFpBW
8. INTERN SURVEY: New York magazine questioned 100 interns about their work, yielding some (perhaps surprisingly) non-complaining results:
* 75 percent said they were appreciated by their colleagues
* 75 percent said the people they work for are smart
* 38 percent said they get no pay or college credit
* 34 percent said they get college credit only
* 84 percent said they get financial support from their parents
