Estée Lauder took over the Pool Room at the Four Seasons Restaurant last Tuesday to introduce 110 U.S. and international beauty editors and writers to an updated version of its nearly three-decade-old product Advanced Night Repair.
The product won’t find its way to stores until July, but the company wanted to take the opportunity to introduce it to long-lead titles and say goodbye to one of its creators, Estee Lauder senior vice president of research and development worldwide Dr. Daniel Maes, who’s retiring this year. Maes took the stage for much of the presentation to explain the science behind the product.
To produce and design the event, Estée Lauder turned to SPEC Entertainment to incorporate the amber and gold accents of the Advanced Night Repair bottle into the room. SPEC kept decor simple, placing different size versions of the bottle on display throughout the room on mirrored bronze trays and inside glass display cases.
Near the conclusion of the lunch, the company showed a video montage—produced by cosmetics marketing and design firm Virtual Beauty—of highlights from Maes’ 22-year career with the company, at which point everyone raised a glass to toast him.
