Improvements to the property include elaborate new landscaping in the outdoor gardens, a paved parking lot and new driveway, new lighting, and a new tile roof. But the most important upgrade—especially for Miami planners looking to host summertime events—is the addition of central air-conditioning in the salon.
The focal point of the house remains its central open courtyard and fountain—surrounded by Spanish arches and two loggias, which in turn provide access to a living and dining room and service areas. Havana tile, and other Cuban furnishings are a highlight of the decor, which includes many original fixtures.
Many clients choose to host their dinners on the villa’s front lawn, under imposing oak trees, which can be decorated with strings of lights. The lawn can also accommodate a tent up to 40 by 80 feet in size. (No dance floors are permitted outside, however.)
Villa Woodbine can seat a total of 230 guests, or accommodate 300 for receptions. The venue must approve DJs and small musician combos (no full bands are permitted), and the residential setting requires that all music stop no later than 11 p.m. The venue is serviced exclusively by Bill Hansen Catering.
