Supporters of Paws 4 You Rescue took their dogs along Thursday for a pet-friendly fund-raiser. The three-hour event for the volunteer-led group, which saves dogs from the euthanasia list at Miami-Dade Animal Services, took over the Transit Lounge for a mini concert, bringing local bands to perform a variety of genres onstage.
"The female lead singer of Hail Mary adopted [a dog] from us and has been wanting to do something to raise money for the Rescue," said Jen Ford, the volunteer marketing chairwoman for Paws 4 You Rescue, of how the benefit came to be.
Bands and musicians Los Bastardos Magnificos, Dreaming in Stereo, Paola Beschin, Lovers For Lunatics, and headlining act Hail Mary played sets throughout the night, with DJ Run Sevim Run spinning music in between. Wine and cheese were compliments of HRM Rex-Goliath and Kork Wine & Cheese. Cupcake.Love. Miami and Valor Chocolates provided cupcakes for both adults and dogs. Throughout the night, guests could bid on a silent auction, which included items like trips to the Caribbean donated by Elite Travel.
The concert raised $5,000, which will directly benefit the dogs at Paws 4 You.
