BizBash and Events DC Honor Washington's Event Industry Icons

Anna Sekula
November 18, 2015

On November 4, 2015, nearly 200 guests came together in one of the city’s most iconic buildings, the Carnegie Library, to celebrate the five Washington-area event and meeting professionals being inducted into the BizBash Hall of Fame.

Official sponsor Events DC called upon top event professionals to help bring the evening to life. Guests entered the architecturally stunning Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square and were greeted at registration by Event Farm, which provided iPads for a seamless and efficient check-in. An oversize archway, designed by Syzygy, framed the doorway and was branded with BizBash and Events DC text. To set the tone for the evening, vibrant blue and soft white lighting by Atmosphere Lighting washed the walls. The color palette complemented the BizBash and Events DC brands. Keeping within this style, two large bars flanked either end of the room, serving delicious cocktails. The signature beverages, created by Federal City Caterers, complemented the extensive menu. The catering company’s delectable bites were strategically placed on white ceramic, wood, and silver metal platters provided by Perfect Settings. Oversize floral arrangements, curated by Tierra Floral Design, adorned the buffet tables. Hydrangea and orchids were paired with crystal and soft white branches.

To continue the modern-meets-traditional design of the evening, Syzygy placed sleek white leather vignettes on either side of the stage. A mixture of blue, silver, and white geometric shapes created a striking design along the backdrop of the stage. The custom graphic design was strategically placed throughout the event, including at the base of the high tables and end tables.

Guests mingled and enjoyed the celebration while listening to music provided by DJ Neekola. With the assistance of Projection Presentation Technology, a slideshow looped throughout the evening, thanking the sponsors and showcasing the honorees. To start the program, BizBash C.E.O. David Adler welcomed guests, followed by Events DC C.E.O. Greg O'Dell. Each presented sterling silver award plates to the honorees, thanking them for their role in shaping our industry. Imagine Photography provided photography and videography.

The inaugural group of Washington-area BizBash Hall of Fame inductees are:
Lisa Block, vice president of meetings and conferences, Society for Human Resource Management
Carla Hargrove McGill, president, Hargrove Inc.
Bill Homan, co-owner, Design Cuisine
Carolyn Peachey, president, Campbell, Peachey & Associates
André Wells, founder and creative officer, Events by André Wells
See interviews with each of the inductees here.

BizBash extends a special thank-you to Events DC and the Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square for their hospitality, as well as to all of the sponsors who make our events possible. Be sure to check bizbash.com/events for event photos and updates.
