As any eco-conscious planner knows, eliminating bottled water from events is more complicated than just turning on the tap. In an effort to eliminate the environmental impact of all those plastic bottles, Washington-based nonprofit Food & Water Watch recently launched its Take Back the Tap campaign, with information on how to eliminate bottled water at meetings, trade shows, and events.
The free guide, downloadable on the organization’s Web site, offers tips on how to find the best tap water source, calculate the amount of water an event requires, and choose a water filtration device. It also includes case studies from real bottled water-free events like the Snowsports Industries of America’s trade show in Las Vegas and the upcoming Slow Food Nation event in San Francisco, which takes place later this month.
