Collaborate America Names Inaugural Class of Honorees

The American Society of Association Executives, Association for Women in Events, Atlantic Media, the James Beard Foundation, the Kyu Collective, and the United Nations Foundation will be recognized for their commitment to effective partnerships.

Collaborate America, a new program to recognize event strategists and organizations committed to the power of effective partnerships, announced its inaugural class of honorees. They will be honored September 27 during a daytime event at the Roof Terrace at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

“These honorees understand the art and science of bringing people together to solve problems and move forward,” said BizBash C.E.O. David Adler, who is co-chairman of the program.

The honorees are:

  • American Society of Association Executives, for developing a culture of learning, unlearning, and relearning that inspires thousands of additional communities and organizations. Accepting for the society will be John Graham, president and C.E.O., and Rhonda Payne, chief learning officer
.
  • Atlantic Media, for using the power of reputation and authority to bring together great minds to spark creative ways to look at issues and innovation. Steve Clemons, Washington editor at large, will accept the award on behalf of the company.
  • The James Beard Foundation, for raising the level of the culinary industry by giving it a voice, a community, and recognition. Susan Ungaro, the foundation's president
, will accept the award.
  • The Kyu Collective, for harnessing the power of the creative community to solve problems using breakthrough thinking. C.E.O. Michael Birkin will accept the award.
  • The United Nations Foundation for using social media and the convening power of face-to-face events to promote understanding and action. Accepting on behalf of the foundation will be Patricia Padilla, executive director of global events.
  • The Collaboration Artist Award 2016, sponsored by Long Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau, will be presented to the Association for Women in Events. Mas Tadesse, the association’s co-founder and secretary, will accept the award.
