It is rare that we get to take a look into the future and even rarer that we picture it in black and white. For the 10th anniversary of the Design Exchange, the venue brought us the "Future in Black and White," showcasing artistic installations such as "What Makes us Wealthy" by Bruce Mau Design Inc., a three-dimensional room set within the venue space and completely designed in black and white images and media excerpts. Themed invitations by Cundari Integrated Advertising instructed guests to dress only in black and white.
Contemporary Furniture Rentals and Nicholas Pinney Designs created a sleek, future-theme dynamic with white leather lounges and custom-made gunmetal sequined pillows, tall cocktail style dining stations, and an illuminated central bar.
Presidential Gourmet served items such as fig and prosciutto puff pastry pizzas, skewered black tiger shrimp marinated with lime pickle and white wine, black and white risottos made of mushrooms and black-squid-ink-colored risotto, parmesan cones with prosciutto and arugula, and delectable goat cheese tartlets, to name a few.
Attendees danced to the beats of Big Rude Jake and DJ-O before leaving the event with gift bags filled with treats from the Design Exchange and a single "Garbini" trash can from designer Karim Rashid-courtesy of Umbra.
