For Reed Smith’s first pre-Thanksgiving feast at the Altman Building, the in-house marketing and special events manager, Amy Bernstein Stover, wanted something out of the ordinary that would represent the traditional holiday as well as fit in with the law firm’s family-minded ethos: “It’s not just business. It’s personal.” The purpose of the event was to have a family-style part to give thanks to staff and clients. Working with event designer Keith Pierpont of Pierpont's Blossom Farm and Sal Mastropolo of Theatrical Props, Stover produced miniature fireplaces that acted as centerpieces for long banquet tables. And by creating three different fireplaces (made of either red brick, white brick, or stone) and using different table runners and china, the designers made the space look more like a family dining room than a corporate get-together. Sonnier & Castle catered the event, serving simple homestyle favorites that included roasted turkey, honey-baked ham, old-fashioned gravy, buttermilk corn bread, and sweet potato biscuits (all the leftovers were donated to City Harvest.
