You can barely hit an event, let alone the highway, without spotting a food truck these days. But for something more original on wheels, there is Smoking With the Caballos, a mobile offshoot of online cigar store Cuenca Cigars, based in Hollywood, Florida. The truck, which launched in the fall, is just what it sounds like: a humidor on wheels. Offerings include cigars from different countries, including the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, priced from $6 to $50 each. Like many mobile vendors, Smoking with the Caballos uses Twitter to let interested parties know of its whereabouts, and it is often found parked alongside a food truck, letting patrons select a post-meal cigar of their choice.
Smoking with the Caballos is available for events and requires a guaranteed $300 minimum purchase of cigars. Travel expenses may also apply, depending on the event location. (Owner Dave Flanzbaum cites Orlando and Tampa as two cities that would incur travel surcharges.) Hollywood-based IT company Connections For Business booked the truck for an event soon after its launch, playing on the cigar theme to encourage clients to find out how they could use technology to “smoke” their competition.
