Here are two new green takes on the event gift bag—one recyclable, one reusable.
1. South Florida-based Give Green Gifts created a durable bag that is designed for regifting. The Give Bag is made of biodegradable jute and has a gift tag that can be wiped clean and reused (with a provided dry-erase pen), plus a cover flap that eliminates the need for tissue paper. The bag comes in many different sizes, colors, and styles. An added twist: Users can record and track the travels of their bag through the company's Web site to see how many times it gets passed along. The company offers three noncustomized bags for $24.99. Pricing for custom bags varies depending on the order size.
2. Cascades, a Canadian company specializing in eco-friendly products, recently launched a briefcase-style gift bag. Made of 100 percent recycled post-consumer cardboard, it can be customized with corporate logos or other designs. Pricing starts at $4.26 per bag for orders of 500 or more. Customization requires a minimum order of 500. Shipping in the U.S. is $20 and $15 in Canada.
