Former Ontario MPP and provincial government minister Dr. Marie Bountrogianni has been appointed president and executive director of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) board of governors. The board, which directs the ROM’s philanthropic, sponsorship, and membership programs, including the ROM Renaissance Capital Campaign, announced the appointment on October 31. Dr. Bountrogianni accepted the appointment after leaving provincial politics prior to the October 10 Ontario election. She represented the riding of Hamilton Mountain from 1999 to 2007 and served as minister for a number of portfolios, including Intergovernmental Affairs, Democratic Renewal, Children and Youth Services, and Citizenship and Immigration.
