
1. In February 2012, Hang Time, a 26,000-square-foot indoor trampoline arena, opened at Tower Place mall in Buckhead. The facility includes two jumping rooms with wall-to-wall trampolines, each available for events and party rental.
2. Open since March in Phipps Plaza, Legoland Discover Center, a 35,000-square-foot indoor attraction, has a 4-D movie theater, two rides, and a “Miniland” exhibition, where three million Lego bricks recreate famous Atlanta attractions. Groups of 10 or more can book private parties in the venue’s party rooms.
3. National comedy chain Improv Comedy Club and Dinner Theatre opened a Buckhead branch in September, with options for group bookings during stand-up shows or full event rental. The venue accommodates 300 for a theater-style event or as many as 120 for a banquet. A prefunction space holds 50 for a cocktail reception. Audiovisual capabilities include two 110-inch video walls and an 18-foot HD retractable projection screen.
4. An outdoor kitchen set on an urban farm that grows fruits, nuts and herbs, the Cooking School at Sweet Selma, a College Park spinoff of the Cooking School at Irwin Street, opened in June. Classes that specialize in handmade pasta, grilling techniques, or holiday cookies include tours of the garden and a meal afterwards, and can accommodate as many as 40.
5. Forest-based adventure course Treetop Quest opened at the Gwinnett Environmental Heritage Center in March. Groups can navigate the 2.5-hour, 15-obstacle ropes course. An on-site boardroom and conference room can be reserved for post-activity meetings.
