1. CW NETWORK ANNOUNCES AWARD SHOW FOR DOGS: Man’s best friend will have its own award show in a new event from the CW called “The World of Dog Awards,” which will debut in the middle of awards season in January 2015. Los Angeles Times: “‘The World Dog Awards’ promise to honor the greatest achievements of man's best friend in the fields of entertainment, health services and the military. And everyday dogs who somehow managed to find fame through the Internet will also be honored. … Categories will include 'best actor in a supporting role to a dog' and 'outstanding achievement in the field,' which will recognize dogs who have risked their lives for humans or shown outstanding kindness to another animal.” http://lat.ms/1s3NEEi
2. BRAND CRITICIZED FOR POOR CHOICE IN CONFERENCE SWAG: At the conference BlogHer, the toddler-focused brand Bright Starts had to stop giving out its swag: a realistic-looking pill bottle with candy inside. The freebies were part of a photo booth setup that also asked attendees to dress up like a baby. Adweek: “These were promotional items created for adults attending the conference, and not something you can expect to see on store shelves. Still, as blogger Morgan Shanahan points out, it's a bad idea to put candy in medicine containers, especially when you know they're likely to end up back in homes with children.” http://bit.ly/1lavfAN
3. DOZENS OF COUPLES GET MARRIED AT LAS VEGAS DENNY'S: Since a Las Vegas Denny's restaurant created its own wedding chapel, 33 couples have chosen the venue to get married. Huffington Post: “According to the in-store wedding coordinator, saying your 'I do's' at the famous diner costs as little as $199 and includes use of the wedding chapel, a photo booth, a champagne toast, two wedding-themed Denny's T-shirts, a 'Pancake Puppie' wedding cake, decorations, a bouquet, a boutonniere and a wedding certificate.” http://huff.to/1qJ1PS8
