The most recent example is the invitation to an upcoming Marc Jacobs party during New York Fashion Week that went viral for its specific, glamorous dress code. New York: “In a world of 24/7 athleisure, insisting on an exacting dress code is a cannily counterintuitive move. 2. ATLANTA COULD RETHINK STADIUM SAFETY FEATURES AFTER FAN’S DEATH: After a fan fell to his death at the Atlanta Braves’ Turner Field, there are questions about whether the safety features in its new stadium—set to open in 2017—should be altered to add higher safety rails. For now, though, team officials are sticking to the current design. Associated Press: “The minimum height standards rails have raised questions on whether they are sufficient, especially for taller fans. A 26-inch rail at the bottom of a section of upper-level seats would not reach the waist of a fan taller than 6 feet. It seems highly unlikely similar changes would be considered for Turner Field, which has only one more year as the team's home. HOW THE WEEKND’S PYROTECHNICS NEARLY MELTED MTV’S STAGE: A literally fiery performance by the Weeknd closed out MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday, when he stood in a 12-foot diameter ring of fire, with very little wiggle room. MTV News: “In rehearsals, we had to stop short of the full song because it was starting to melt the stage,” production designer Leroy Bennett said. “Abel has to stand exactly dead center of the circle. LOS ANGELES: Vanity Fair has announced that it will bring its Vanity Fair Social Club, previously produced during Oscar week, to the Emmy awards weekend for the first time this year.
JW Marriott and an Anaheim developer have submitted plans to build a luxury hotel at the GardenWalk mall in Anaheim, near Disneyland. The new luxury hotel will be JW Marriott’s first Orange County location.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Mediterranean restaurant Apeiro Kitchen & Bar will open a new location at the Shops at Midtown Miami in October. The 6,129-square-foot restaurant will seat 320 and offer both indoor and outdoor seating. The concept's original location opened earlier this year in Delray.
NEW YORK: The North Food Festival, taking place September 23-28, will celebrate Iceland Day September 26 with a variety of events that include an Icelandic brunch, an Iceland cuisine Q&A session, a presentation about Icelandic films, and a Rekya Vodka cocktail class. The events will take place in an indoor-outdoor space on the corner of Charles and Washington streets in Manhattan.

ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: DoveCote restaurant will take over the former site of Harvey's Bistro in the Bank of America Center in downtown Orlando. The restaurant, expected to open in late spring 2016, will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and have seating for 120 people, including space for private events. It's being developed by a team that includes James and Julie Petrakis, owners of the Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder; Clayton Miller, a past winner of Food & Wine's "Best New Chef" award; and Gene Zimmerman, owner of the Courtesy cocktail lounge.

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO: More than 20 groups held their meetings in Puerto Rico in August and September, which Meet Puerto Rico reports as a direct impact of $7 million to the local economy. The organization also reported 10 new bookings in July for meetings that will take place from 2015-2017.
TORONTO: Drake One Fifty will host a launch party for artist Gary Baseman’s exhibition “My Eyes Are Bigger Than My Stomach” on September 9. The exhibition—inspired by food and celebration—includes a floor-to-ceiling mural, custom-printed plates, and drawings on menus.
WASHINGTON, D.C.: The Physicians for Social Responsibility will host a gala and a conference this month. The Gala for Peace and Health will take place September 19 at the Austrian Embassy.
