Royale Nightclub and Entertainment Complex took over the former home of Roxy in the theater district this spring, restoring the ballroom space's original opera-house details. The 22,000-square-foot bilevel space offers a multitude of options for private events, including a seated capacity of 400 and a total occupancy of 775.
Royale’s look is a nod to old-fashioned grandeur, with an updated sheen: New black wood flooring covers the main room, where a raised stage and dance floor are the focus. V.I.P. booths line the first and second floors, and animal-print carpeting and gold lounges and chairs play off the restored gold detailing on the ceiling and ornate chandeliers overhead. V.I.P. rooms and the ballroom’s “sky rooms,” reminiscent of opera boxes, have been updated and are available for buyouts.
The space is equipped for music events. A new sound system can be rented during private events, and an in-house audio technician is available for an hourly rate. The venue has partnered with New York’s Bowery Presents to bring in live musical acts and DJs.
Royale has six full bars, a DJ booth, and video capabilities on five plasma screens, one retractable 16- by 12-foot screen, and two on-stage screens. Outside catering is welcome, and a full kitchen is accessible at Caprice next door, whose owners also back Royale, Underbar, and Pearl.
