1. PRESIDENTIAL BENEFITS: Last night, President Obama stopped traffic in New York with series of star-studded fund-raisers. The first, held at a private residence, saw 100 supporters, who each paid at least $5,000 to attend. Afterward, the president went to ABC Kitchen for a dinner and then spoke next door at ABC Carpet & Home with guests including chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Deepak Chopra, and Russell Simmons. Ben Folds, the Roots, and Ingrid Michaelson performed for 900 fans. 2. LEGAL POSTING: Advertising lawyer Brian Heidelberger offers advice for brands on how to avoid the legal implications of pinning photos on Pinterest. Ad Age: "…before encouraging consumers to create a themed pinboard for your promotion, consider what images the consumer may connect to your brand. Don't forget that consumers may use images they don't own which, in addition to copyright issues, could present complications if you planned on using the winning pinboard for later publicity."

3. IN SYNC: Last night Caesars Entertainment launched the largest promotion in its history—a live concert held across four cities and streamed live to the Web. The event, which rebranded the casino company's Total Rewards loyalty program, took over the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles, Chicago's Union Station, Woldenberg Park in New Orleans, and New York's Gotham Hall with performances by Sean "Diddy" Combs, Mariah Carey, Cee Lo Green, Mary J. Blige, and others. The multicity effort was produced by Caravents, overseen by entertainment and consumer PR agency PMK-BNC.

4. VH1 AND FOURSQUARE ALLIANCE: The music channel and check-in platform are teaming up to help fans that follow VH1 on Foursquare to earn a limited-edition VH1 Save the Music badge by checking into music venues across the U.S. The channel will donate $1 per badge to the Save the Music Foundation for the first 35,000 users that earn it. 5. SOCIAL PLANNING: Lauren Lane and Daniel Welch from the United Kingdom turned to Twitter after the wedding event company folded six weeks before their big day. Lane sent out tweets asking for help and the an outpouring of support came—a magician, make-up artist, photographer, and wedding planner all offered to donate or charge very little for services and products. CHICAGO: The American Cancer Society Black & White Ball is Saturday at the InterContinental Chicago O'Hare. The black-tie dinner is expected to draw 480 guests. Entertainment from the Stu Hirsh Orchestra will cap off the black tie event.

On May 26, Chicago will host the final qualifying event for women's gymnastics for the Visa Championships, which determines which gymnasts advance to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Gymnastics. Savor Chicago, the company that runs McCormick Place's food operations, has named Vincent Lai director of culinary services.

The Westin Michigan Avenue has completed a $7 million renovation of its 38,000 square feet of banquet, ballroom, conference, and meeting spaces. The areas have upgraded lighting and audio systems, faster Internet connectivity, and increased flexibility in room configurations.

LAS VEGAS: Food and beverage reps from Bellagio, Caesars Palace, the Cosmopolitan, and Mandalay Bay set a new Guinness world record by uncorking 308 bottles of Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon simultaneously in celebration of Bon Appetit’s Vegas Uncork’d. In addition to setting the record, the food magazine revealed new chefs and programming for its culinary festival, slated for May 10-13. For the first time, chefs like Jose Andres, David Myers, and Scott Conant will participate.

LOS ANGELES: YourBash! designed the “American Idol” Finalist Party for Karin Pofsky at Fox Thursday night. The event was held in a tent on Level 8, the rooftop of the Grove Parking Structure overlooking the city and the Hollywood sign, immediately following the taping of the show.

The first Los Angeles Beerathon will take place March 31, with participants hopping through 26 downtown bars to try 26 beers, with a portion of all proceeds benefiting local nonprofit organizations.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Miami International Film Festival kicks off today and runs through March 11. More than 100 films will be screened at varying locations.

Club New York opens today in West Palm Beach. The 9,000-square-foot venue will have 28 V.I.P. tables throughout the bilevel space. The venue will be available for events.
