July 26, 2013: Madison Square Garden Must Move, Burning Man Gets Good News, Special Effect at Pool Party Turns Tragic

1. MADISON SQUARE GARDEN MUST MOVE: New York's City Council has given Madison Square Garden 10 years to find a new home, saying the city needs the land to expand Penn Station. The decision comes as the famed concert and sports arena is finishing a $968 million renovation. New York Times: http://nyti.ms/1692UG5

2. BURNING MAN CAN RAISE ATTENDANCE UNDER NEW PERMIT: The immediate future of the Burning Man festival is secure after it received a four-year permit to continue to use the Black Rock Desert in Nevada and permission to increase its attendance to 68,000. Huffington Post: "Organizers have been pushing for an increased population cap ever since Burning Man sold out for the first time in its nearly three-decade history in 2011. Demand has continued to skyrocket, prompting tickets to be distributed through a tiered system." http://huff.to/139O6qf

3. LIQUID NITROGEN ACCIDENT AT POOL PARTY LEAVES GUEST IN COMA: Planners of a pool party in Mexico went overboard with a liquid nitrogen special effect, pouring so much of it into the water that many of the 200 guests could not breathe. The bash, sponsored by Jagermeister, left one guest in a coma. Daily Mail: "Officials say that when the liquid nitrogen came in contact with the water, the chemical substance with a low boiling point displaced oxygen, leaving young party goers gasping for breath, Excelsior.com reported. Guests who were milling about around the pool quickly realized that those inside the water began passing out and quickly called for help." http://dailym.ai/13h0VKu
