August 30, 2013: Nightclub Too Hot for Vegas, Golden Globes Want Fey and Poehler as Hosts, Inside the U.S. Open's Massive Data Center

1. NIGHTCLUB TOO HOT FOR VEGAS: A luxury Las Vegas resort is trying to kick out the Act, a new nightclub, for its kinky performances. Huffington Post: "The Palazzo hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip is trying to evict a 10-month-old nightclub for shows it says are so raunchy that they violate obscenity laws. It says actors – some nearly naked – toss condoms into the crowd and simulate sex acts and bestiality on stage. The club is seeking a restraining order to halt the closure, arguing that simulated sex acts don't constitute obscenity."  http://huff.to/1cnbfrs

2. GOLDEN GLOBES WANT FEY AND POEHLER BACK AS HOSTS: NBC and Dick Clark Productions have asked Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to return as hosts of the Golden Globes. Deadline: "Unlike the Oscars, which are a massive undertaking requiring about three months of prep work for the host(s), the Golden Globes are not as labor intensive for the hosts, who don’t have as big a role on the free-wheeling show. … A Globes hosting gig normally is a couple-week commitment, which makes it manageable for in-demand personalities like Fey and Poehler." http://bit.ly/1dxcQz4

3. A LOOK INSIDE THE U.S. OPEN'S DATA COMMAND CENTER: From a command center at Arthur Ashe Stadium, I.B.M. provides a host of data on the U.S. Open tennis play and recently signed a four-year contract extension with the U.S. Tennis Association. Ad Age: "The partnership has become a test bed of data-fueled innovation that not only reaches consumers and media covering the event, but now even uses social-media data to influence how server resources are allocated." http://bit.ly/15DTjXK
