2. WHITE HOUSE CANCELS ANNUAL PICNIC WITH CONGRESS: Citing the crisis in Syria, the White House called off the September 18 picnic with members of Congress. New York Times: "The Congressional picnic, which had been scheduled for a week from Wednesday, is a lavish affair, with glad-handing and backslapping accompanied by live music. … One perk is still on offer: Members of Congress will be able to bring family members to the holiday party, which is usually open to lawmakers only."

HOW TO SUCCEED AT MOBILE MARKETING: An Ohio-based mobile marketing firm has quickly drawn in clients such as Gatorade, Cinemax, Wrangler, and the Detroit Tigers—all of whom want to use live events to reach customers. BARCELONA: EIBTM will offer several new sponsorship opportunities at its November 19-21 show such as sponsorship of live walls (digital display screens that offer social media integration and video and still advertising), networking piazzas on the show floor, and the "igloo dome," a 3-D geodesic dome that can broadcast 360-degree video.
