January 8, 2016: Beyoncé to Perform During Super Bowl Halftime Show, Las Vegas Strip Clubs Using C.E.S. Hashtag, Tracking the Boom in Cannabis Conferences

1. BEYONCE TO PERFORM DURING SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: Creating an all-start team of past Super Bowl entertainers, Pepsi announced that Beyoncé will perform with Coldplay at Super Bowl 50. The show, taking place February 7 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, will also feature another past headliner, Bruno Mars. Entertainment Tonight: “Something tells us that Bruno and Bey aren't the only VIPs we'll be seeing on that stage. As ET previously reported, at least one more act is expected to join the halftime show. “ http://et.tv/1Z8VPOa

2. LAS VEGAS STRIP CLUBS USING C.E.S. HASHTAG: Strip clubs in Las Vegas have been using the official hashtag for International C.E.S. to try to reach attendees at the massive Las Vegas show—and distract anyone who wants to use the hashtag to sort through social media posts. Mashable: “So if you feel the need to peruse #CES2016 hashtag on Instagram, among the new gadgets and Vegas skyline are strip clubs spamming the social network with deals like free lap dances and complimentary limos.” http://on.mash.to/1S89AO3

3. TRACKING THE BOOM IN CANNABIS CONFERENCES: As the legalized marijuana industry matures, a host of new conferences and events are forming to serve the market. Events are trying to establish themselves, and exhibitors, speakers, and attendees, are trying to sort out which ones will offer the best opportunities. Forbes: “‘The frustration for a business is figuring out which ones will make the most impact,’ said Kyle Sherman, CEO of Flowhub. He pointed out that many conferences can be full of prototype companies with only ‘ideas’ looking for capital and with no real product in place. Sherman said, ‘This has created a lot of noise and chaos in the space.’ Since the industry is so new and so many people want to get in on the ‘green rush,’ there is a flood of conferences and companies wanting to capitalize on the influx.” onforb.es/1RbLqlB
