Hotel Openings, Upgrades Yield New Meeting Space

An $8 million renovation project is underway at San Diego’s 462-room Paradise Point Resort & Spa to upgrade 32,000 square feet of conference and meeting space. The project began in June and is expected to finish by September. All rooms are getting a design and architectural upgrade, including the 10,064-square-foot Paradise ballroom. Andrea Dawson of Dawson Design Associates is adding a modern Bali-inspired look to correspond with the resort’s tropical ambience. Paradise Point also has four lawn venues and several poolside patios for outdoor functions.

And come August, the Marina Hotel San Pedro will become the newly renovated Doubletree Hotel Los Angeles/San Pedro. After an $8.5 million renovation, the upscale, full-service hotel will have revamped all of its 226 rooms, 16,000 square feet of meeting space, and dining and fitness facilities. The hotel is just a mile from the Los Angeles Cruise Terminal, where Carnival, Norwegian, Princess, and Disney ships dock.
