Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced a November 1 reopening of the US Grant Hotel in San Diego, following an extensive $52 million renovation. The landmark 11-story hotel was built in 1910 by Ulysses S. Grant Jr. to honor his Civil War hero father; it closed in 2005. Exterior enhancements include wrought iron lights, rooftop gardens, and the restoration of the original grand entrance on Fourth Avenue. The 35,000 square feet of new meeting space includes the 9,300-square-foot Presidential Ballroom with a built-in theatrical stage, and 22 separate event rooms with updated audiovisual technology. Mark Dibella is director of sales and marketing.
