SAN DIEGO—Here's a look at new San Diego eateries, drinking spots, hotels, conference areas, private rooms, and other spaces for all types of summer entertaining and events. The new and renovated venues in San Diego—as well as Coronado, Del Mar, and Carmel Valley—are available for corporate parties, fund-raisers, outdoor events, business dinners, teambuilding activities, client entertaining, meetings, weddings, and more.
Serēa Coastal Cuisine

New to the iconic Hotel Del Coronado is Serēa Coastal Cuisine, which opened in May. Replacing 1500 Ocean, the new restaurant overlooking the hotel’s oceanside garden focuses on sustainable seafood dishes. Updated furnishings outfit the 2,573-square-foot space with room for 276 seated guests.

Morning Glory

Morning Glory opened in Little Italy in May. The second-floor restaurant by CH Projects centers around brunch with dishes like Japanese souffle pancakes, French omelets, and chicken and waffles. Designed by Paul Basile of San Diego’s Basile Studios, the 4,000 square-foot space includes pink-clad furnishings and a wrap around counter with room for 107 guests.

Albaca Restaurant

Albaca is a New American restaurant located within Coronado Island Marriott Resort & Spa. Open since June, the restaurant focuses on diet- and vegan-friendly dishes. The venue includes 2,400 square feet of indoor space and 2,000 square feet of outdoor space with room for 54 seated guests inside and an additional 124 outside.

The Guild Hotel

Opened in June, the Guild Hotel in downtown San Diego is part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio. Originally an Army-Navy YMCA, the eight-floor, 162-room boutique hotel retains its original façade. There are five distinct venues: the Grace Ballroom at 3,500 square feet with room for 300 seated guests; Society Ballroom, a 3,870-square-foot-space that seats 300; the Council Room, a 510-square-foot conference room designed for 20 seated guests; the Garden Terrace, a 4,200-square-foot outdoor space that accommodates 400 guests; and the Society Lounge, a velvet draped 425-square-foot area with room for 30.

El Cordova Hotel

El Cordova Hotel in Coronado completed a renovation in July. The renovation includes the Casa Grande Suite, new multi-use room with audiovisual capabilities and catering options. Included in the 1,000-square-foot suite are two sofas, a dining and living area, two attached bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a bathroom. The suite accommodates 20 seated guests or 30 standing.

North Italia One Paseo

Carmel Valley’s One Paseo retail center is home to North Italia One Paseo, part of Fox Restaurant Group. Opened in June, the Italian-centric restaurant boasts 5,110 square feet that includes an expansive indoor-outdoor dining room and patio. The venue seats 270 guests indoors.

Little Frenchie

Little Frenchie opened in Coronado in May from the Blue Bridge Hospitality Group. The Parisian-inspired bistro specializes in classic French cuisine like steak tartare, croque monsieur, or burgundy snails with herb garlic butter. At 1,600 square feet, the restaurant seats 40 guests inside and 20 more in its shaded patio.

Bibigo Kitchen

Since May, Westfield Fashion Valley in Mission Valley is home to Bibigo Kitchen. The full-service restaurant specializes in Korean dishes like beef bulgogi and Korean barbecue. Warm wood furnishings include counter-height tables and individual tables spread throughout its 1,400-square-foot space. The venue seats 50 guests inside plus an additional 20 on its adjoining patio.

Del’s Hideout

The Cohn Restaurant Group opened Del’s Hideout in May. Located in the Del Cerro-Allied Gardens communities, the restaurant’s standout feature is its “butler bell” technology allowing guests to request service at the touch of a button. Texas-style barbecue along with burgers and grain bowls headline the daily menu. At an expansive 5,400 square feet, the restaurant can accommodate about 150 seated guests.

Parakeet Café

Parakeet Café at Del Mar’s One Paseo has been open since April. As the third restaurant in the lineup of two other restaurants located in La Jolla and Little Italy, this newest addition continues its tradition of serving healthy but indulgent foods like overnight oats, raw kale salads, and hibiscus lettuce cups. The 1,700-square-foot café seats 30 guests insides plus an additional 60 on its 1,300-square-foot patio.
