SoBe Hotels Trade Off, While Restaurant Stays Put

Losing its operator as a result of nine months of disappointing occupancy levels and room rates, the Regent South Beach Hotel, a.k.a. the area's newest luxury hotel, was forced to shut down at midnight on September 14. Spain-based Vincci Hotels, a chain with properties in New York and California, took over that day. The abrupt switch ends Regent Hotels & Resorts' plan to take on the Delano Hotel, Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, and other top South Beach hotels. However, Table 8, the Regent's celebrated first-floor restaurant, will remain open.
