Old Monkey Bar Gets New Food

Old New York charmer the Monkey Bar and Restaurant is revamping its menu, just months before celebrating its sixty-fifth anniversary this October. The Glazier Group (which also owns Bridgewaters, Michael Jordan's Steakhouse and Strip House) and PR firm the Susan Magrino Agency have been ushering a host of prominent New Yorkers to the storied locale for preview tasting sessions to sample an updated menu from new executive chef David Walzog. The past few nights diners have included CeCe Cord, Randolph Duke, Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Bret Easton Ellis, David Lauren, Kal Ruttenstein and famed cakemaker Sylvia Weinstock. Our favorite new menu item: the sauteed halibut with poached tomatoes.
