If Leona Helmsley is your landlord, you best not publish a book saying mean things about her--or try to hold a party promoting the book in one of her buildings. New York magazine reports that book publisher--and 20-plus year Empire State Building tenant--John Wiley & Sons wanted to throw a launch party at the famous Helmsley-controlled landmark to celebrate the publication of Empire: A Tale of Obsession, Betrayal and the Battle for an American Icon. Author Mitchell Pacelle has some "unflattering" things to say about the real estate maven, and building management said throwing a party on the premises "could be detrimental to their relationship." New York also added that the book will not be sold in the building's gift shop, at least until Helmsley's lease on the building expires in 2076.
