Continental Airlines CEO Gordon Bethune hosted more than 400 corporate customers, travel industry leaders and frequent flyers for quickly paced luncheon at the Grand Hyatt on Monday that included a to-the-point report on the airline's post-September 11 business and security measures. Bethune told the crowd that safety is a high priority, and assured travelers of Continental's commitment to the New York area. (Continental boasts a 41-percent share of New York air travelers, with more than 300 flights operating into the city daily, despite an 18-percent schedule cut.) Among the airline's news: All of its airport President Clubs remain operational, and a new rail service now connects travelers from Penn Station directly to Newark Airport. The event was highlighted by the presentation of a check for $100,000 to the United Way of New York's Relief Fund.
