Luring Tourists and Conventioneers to NYC

Everyone remembers what a huge stir the World Economic Forum caused when it took over Midtown at the beginning of February. But that wasn't the last big convention that came to show support for New York following the World Trade Center attacks. New York's biggest tourist and convention cheerleader, NYC & Company, lured the Travel Industry Association of America's annual Pow Wow trade show here for 2005. And Senator Charles Schumer and Bloomberg have been actively pursuing even bigger fish like the 2012 Summer Olympics, the Super Bowl, the Grammys and the annual meeting of the Democratic Policy Committee.
