The Scoop on Britney's New Midtown Joint

Pop princess Britney Spears is planning lend her name--and perhaps her celebrated navel--to promote a new restaurant in Midtown, in the former space of Virot in the Dylan Hotel. What was once going to be called Pinkie (after a reported nickname given to her by ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake), Spears has changed the name to Nyla, "shorthand for New York Louisiana, a tip to of the hat to Ms. Spears's home state," reports The New York Times. The 7,000-square-foot restaurant will feature pink and purple walls, and "soon to arrive are a huge chandelier draped with textured fabrics and banquettes upholstered with mohairlike fabric of eggplant and gold." Spears' partners in this venture are Dylan owner Morris Moinian and restaurateur-with-the-stars Bobby Ochs, who co-founded failed celeb restaurants with Patrick Swayze and Marla Maples. The venue--billed as an "American bistro"--is scheduled to open in May.
